12*15*12

:: Yikes! It's almost been a year since I last posted. It is not that I haven't been grateful or had things to be grateful for, I just need more sleep. :0)

:: I'm grateful for projects. I get so much fulfillment when I am thinking/creating/finishing a project.

:: For holiday traditions, new and old. I love how my kids are excited and anticipating things we've done in the past as well as the excitement they have when we had some new ones. I feel really happy this year with the balance of fun traditions and meaningful ones.

:: For the talent I have to play the piano. It is pretty scarce in our ward and I am needed. Though I may grumble from time to time about it, I love to play and am happy that I can play well enough that no one complains about it. :0)

:: For Mark. He is very supportive and a good listening hear. Even if I rant or vent about something I ranted and raved about a month ago...um...that seems to be a cycle. Seriously. He's the best!

:: For books. I love that it's something that I can share with my children and that I can almost literally feel the glue forming in our relationship when we read together.

3*27*2012

:: for a warm, almost summer-like day. The kids played in bowls of water, I washed the windows near the deck, and everyone was happy.

:: for the library. I will say this as something I'm grateful for every time I go. I love the feeling of possibility. There are so many stories, places, things to learn about, and hidden gems.

:: for my kids getting old enough that if I need to run and return an item at a store, I only have to take the boys with me while the girls stay in the car. I, of course, don't do this on super hot days or anything ridiculous....in case you were wondering. :0)

:: for having time to clean. I love order and I love being able to have the time to do things right the first time and not just quickly scramble to tidy something because of time. Order = happy me.

::for popcorn. It's one of my favorite snacks.

03*24*2012

:: for going on a date night. I feel likes it's been a while since we've gone on a date. It really hasn't, but some how with all of the birthday party planning, birthday party throwing,  car searching and car buying, our weekends have been filled. We saw "The Hunger Games." And I have they did a good job in comparison to the book.

:: that boys are different than girls. I'm always so fascinated about how different each gender is and seeing how some things are "just a boy/girl" thing no matter what family they come from.

:: for wonderful warm weather! We got a lot of outside projects done and it was great to not be rushed by the weather to hurry and get done before a storm came or it that it was to cold to finish or even start. I am ready for warmer days...not ready to shave regularly, though.:0)

:: that Brenner didn't fall apart tonight. He seems to be doing that a lot lately and not just at night. He has had a really long stretch of awesomeness so it's only normal and even expected that he's due for a rough patch. Tonight, despite his running total of being a crying blob each night, he went to bed very pleasantly.

:: for watching a TV show on our "big screen" and our stadium seating from Brightynn's party. It really is just fun!

03*19*2012

:: Giving lots of birthday gifts to other people. It's fun surprising people with small thoughtful gifts. It really made my day!

:: I'm grateful for Brightynn enjoying playing the piano right now. It come and goes in waves and it's always delightful when she loves it and we can play some duets together.

:: I'm grateful that I can play the piano. With our ward just splitting, the number of piano players are a lot slimmer in each ward. I think I might be one of the only ones in my ward. Though, I don't always enjoy being pigeoned holed into a piano calling, I am grateful for the talent and the opportunity to us to invite the spirit.

:: I'm grateful for books. Right now in my life, I listen to them. It makes me eager to do the chores I dread because I can listen to my book while I do them. I love to listen to it while I fall asleep so I'm not thinking about all the other random things that usually keep me up. It. is. fabulous.

:: I'm grateful for McKinney wanting to exercise with me. It is sometimes hard to focus with the extra chatter, but I do love that she wants to do it with me and it's instilling good habits for her down the road.

3*18*2012

:: Oh, man. It's been a while. I hope you know this doesn't mean I haven't been grateful, just not in the habit of documenting it yet. I'll get there. :0)

:: Our ward split today and it was nice to finally see the boundaries. I feel like there has been so much talk and speculation it's good to know for sure.

:: I'm grateful for my cute primary kids. I'm not sure if I'll be teaching primary because of the split, but I have at least two of my kids not in my ward any more. It was kind of sad. :0(

:: I'm grateful for the moments when my kids try to help each other out and make things better on their own without any promptings from me.

:: I'm grateful that Mark will be getting a new car this week! This wasn't in the plans, but it will be working out and I'm happy for him.

02*27*2012

:: for reading with my kids. Time spent that way with my children feels like heaven.

:: for Peace Lilly house plants. They start to droop when they need water, so you water them and within an hour or two, they are as good as new. I wish other things I cared for were so simple to interpret. :0)

:: for Brightynn started to ask me about my childhood with questions like, "Mom, did you ever have a friend who would brag a lot?" and then have her look at me with such intent to absorb what ever wisdom I learned from my experience. I could get used to this.

:: for the opportunity that my kids get to see adults and teenagers be baptized and become a member of the church. SO many great discussions about choices, the atonement, love, enduring, and plan of salvation come from these experiences.

02*25*2012

:: for loving our new van.

:: for still having a lazy Saturday, but also getting quite a lot accomplished.

:: for Brenner saying "I'm getting e-tacked" or "It was e-ttached"

:: for making granola bars with Brightynn. It's always fun to try a new recipe and to spend time with one of my kids.

:: for posting Mark's 22-year-old car on craigslist and actually getting 10 interested responses. I am shocked!!

Thursday, February 23, 2012

02*23*2012

:: man, it's been a few days!

:: trying a new recipe that I loved! I made Swedish meatballs and it was delicious, easy, and a healthy approach to the traditional kind. Can't say my kids really liked it!

:: for the Library. I just love it. My kids just love. Our library just started a reading program that has got my kids reading like crazy. It's been great!
:: for programs that can turn my blogs into a book. I'm almost done with 2011 and it's easy and is a treasure when it's done.

:: for a talented husband. Really, there really isn't much he can't do!

:: for playing with Brenner today. Just him and me. Come to find out he is a little bossy when it comes to his "games"...so many rules that I would keep breaking. :0)

:: for getting McKinney's invites off in the mail. It's funny how completing something simple can make your feel.

:: for Body Rock having three different exercise videos for different levels. It's been so great to pick and choose even more the exercises I want to use and I'm really pushing myself.

02*16*2012

:: for meeting up with a freind, spur of the moment, to go to the park.

:: for having all the kids in their room or quiet by 7pm. It's been a while since that's happened and it has been nice.

::  for finally finding a new van. Man, it was harder than I thought it was to find something, but we did!

:: for my piano student being pleasant and happy during his lesson. It's so nice when the student is eagar to learn for a change. :0)

:: for selling one of the toys my kids had out grown on craigslist. It had been a good three months since I posted and totally spaced that I did. It was a pleasant surprise!

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

02*14*2012

:: for how happy and excited my kids were for their V-day pillows and little gifts. It's funny how such a small thing can bring such joy to us all!

:: for Mark making me my spinach smoothly after I exercised so I could get ready in time for my a.m. piano students that much quicker.

::  for warm baths. It's perfect on a cold day.

::  that my kids love cereal as much as I do and LOVE to have it for dinner. It's perfect for a day like this where I feel spent.

:: for spell check. :0)

Monday, February 13, 2012

2*13*2012

::For going to Costco with 3 kids and it was not a bad experience. It was actually fun. :0)

:: For making Valentine boxes and invites with my girls.

:: For Mark being home when the girls got home from school. It just makes such a difference to have another adult there during that time. It was great!

:: For the sun. I know I've said this before, but man, it makes such a difference to my day if the sun is shinning.

:: For Brenner getting ready so quickly in all the many places we went today. He didn't become floppy, suddenly forget how to do 4-year-old things, or even make a peep when I asked him to get ready. So pleasant!

02*11*2012

:: that my husband is so handy and talented and was able to fix his car...and it only cost $100.00. Hooray!

:: that my kids are getting old enough that we can clean our whole house within two hours. They may grumble now,.... okay. I know they still grumble later.

:: the bounce house. It is the perfect thing for these long winter days so they kids can use some energy and I can get some stuff done.

:: being able to sleep in until 8:30am. Ahh, it was nice.

:: for McKinney being so helpful with Davis while I was trying to make dinner. She is going to make a great baby-sitter.

Friday, February 10, 2012

02*10*12

:: that Davis took a nap in the afternoon (this isn't always happening)  and Brenner was at friends so I had a very quite house for a few hours.

:: that we really haven't been sick this season. Maybe a sniffle or a slight cough, but nothing that's kept the kids home from school or has even gotten to me. It's been nice.

:: for freezer meals. I have a freezer stock full of meals for at least two weeks and it's so nice to have those handy. It makes the whole, "what to make for dinner" question not such a big question.

:: for my creative kids. I just love seeing them get excited about something they've created!

:: for a nice enough day I didn't need to wear a coat to go outside. I don't think we're out of the winter woods yet, but it sure nice to have a break in the gray and coldness

02*09*2012

:: oops! Already missed a day. :0) I'm grateful for family that is close.

:: I'm grateful that close family can come help Mark break into his car (because he locked his keys in there after it died on his way to work).

:: I'm grateful that my kids helped me say a prayer for my lost keys (that has the spar to Mark's car and has been lost since Sunday).

:: I'm grateful that I don't feel super stressed about this turn of events and know that even though I never found my keys, Mark had a miserable day, and we most likely will need to get a new car sooner than we were wanting, that sometimes you are given trials to just go through them.

:: Opposition is a something I am grateful for because tomorrow has got to be better than today! :0)

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

02*07*12

:: that work was really calm enough that I could attempt to make some french bread (totally bombed)  and Texas road house rolls as well as have dinner ready before the girls came home from school.

:: because dinner was all prepared, I was able to spend more time with my girls and help them detangle their doll's hair and talk about the clothes they want to make for them.

:: for Brenner being nice and helpful to Davis even when Brenner's friend was over.

:: for Bend-a-roos. :0) My kids love them, I love them, and they provide countless hours of creativity with no mess!

:: for sunshine. We had a huge snow storm last weekend and even though I'm trying not to countdown until it's spring, just having the sun shine brightly through my home makes me happy...or maybe it's when it's shinning on my shoulder.. ? :0)

Monday, February 6, 2012

02*06*12

:: finally making a great batch of rice krispy treats. I know there are only 3 ingredients, but man did I struggle getting them to stay soft and chewy after they cooled.

:: getting all the laundry washed and having the kid's put their clean clothes away without a single complaint OR a single reminder to stay on task.

:: having reliable friends who could take my kids to work when I couldn't find my keys....still haven't found them. I don't have proof, but I'm totally blaming Davis.

:: for Conference talks. Even though it's almost been six months since I've heard these words, they still are filled with power and purpose. It's a great way to start my day.

::  hearing Davis' commentary about his every day living. He is constantly chattering about what he's doing at the moment, what he's seeing... it's just really cute. Oh, and how cuddly he's been today!

Sunday, February 5, 2012

02*05*12

:: For two more piano students which = more money for debt and my house projects. I feel really watched over and loved.

:: For families. One of my favorite lines in a new primary song is "God gave us families, to help us become what he wants us to be." I have a lot to learn so I can reach my potential and I'm so grateful I have this family, the family I grew up in, and married into to help me learn and grow.

:: Working cars. We haven't had any car problems for almost a year and I feel so blessed that we can turn on the car and go where we need to go.

:: For my hubby. He is such a great father. He is so good at just being with our kids. If I ever sit down, I am not just there to sit. I am busy working, looking, reading, crafting, preparing or countless other things. When Mark sits down, that's all he's doing and the kids know it. His lap is never empty and he can "just be" with the kids.

:: I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm grateful to teach primary. I was super grumbly about this calling and there are still aspect I struggle with, but the kids I teach are so great and say the funniest things. I have the opportunity to start and add to testimonies and that is a pretty cool thing.
